After 8 films that have accumulated about $5 billion worldwide, the Fast & Furious franchise has created a spinoff with 2 characters that the fans know. It is a stand alone film about Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, played by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham as they reprise their roles in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Ever since Luke Hobbs (a loyal agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service) and lawless outcast Shaw (who was a former British military elite operative) first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down.
This time though, they are forced to work together to take down cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton played by Idris Elba. Brixton gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever. Brixton takes interest in a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent, who just happens to be Shaw’s sister.
Directed by David Leitch (Deadpool 2). Script written by Chris Morgan, the film is produced by Morgan, Johnson, Statham and Hiram Garcia. The executive producers are Dany Garcia, Kelly McCormick, Steven Chasman, Ethan Smith and Ainsley Davies.
