Disney’s The Lion King just released their full length trailer that finally shows the animals talking and in live action. The direction is Jon Favreau, who previously directed such movies as, “Iron Man” and “The Jungle Book” (which was also a live action Disney remake). “The Lion King” is of course set in an African savanna where a future king is born. Simba, idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and starts his journey to discover his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, (who is Mufasa’s brother and former heir to the throne) has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock undergoes as both fight for the throne with some help from his friends. His friends consist of Pumbaa and Timon.
Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and mature, while also taking back what is rightfully his. The cast includes; Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. This live action remake is sure to bring some surprises along the way and the film already shoes the animals in a new and exciting light.
Disney’s “The Lion King” is set to hit theaters on July 19, 2019.
